Planetary Setting

The World of Bellicor

Three powers, three answers to mortality, and a city that should not exist.

On Bellicor, no one knows what comes after death. Three dominant powers answer that uncertainty in fundamentally different ways: through faith, through magical science and technology, or through the Necroimperium’s system of immortality.

Cosmology & Mortality

The Question of Mortality

Between the terror of the unknown and the reality of the dead.

No one knows what comes after death. The gods are dead or may never have existed at all, leaving the afterlife a terrifying unknown across Bellicor.

The only proven way to avoid oblivion is transformation into the undead. Necromancy is the science of immortality, yet across Bellicor it is outlawed under penalty of death everywhere except within the borders of the Necroimperium.

For centuries, Ghost Island was dismissed as a cartographer’s error. Only after the Cataclysm did it become visible to the world, drawing three rival expeditions toward it.

The Three Powers

Three powers. Three truths. One contested destination.

The conflict on Bellicor is driven by three sovereign states, each answering the question of existence and mortality in its own way.

Theocratic Monarchy Aurelis

The Holy Phoenix Empire

«Purification in flame. Salvation in faith.»

Ruled by Emperor Rudolf II, the Empire rests upon three pillars of authority: the Imperial Crown, the Church of Light, and the Guild of Mages. Centered on faith and order around the Light, its doctrine regarding the afterlife is challenged by the existence of the Necroimperium.

The Sarid Consortium

«Knowledge pushes back the boundaries.»

A confederation of ten city-states in arid Lusaria, governed by the Council of Mages. As one of Bellicor’s wealthiest and most technologically sophisticated powers, they treat magic not as religion, but as engineering, science, and technology powered by amalite.

The Necroimperium

«Remember death. Reign over death.»

An empire-corporation governed by Archlich Amal-Zelal. Living under a trade embargo, the Necroimperium treats immortality as a contract, product, and state service. Proven capability and discipline supersede birthright and former titles.

Contested Mystery

Ghost Island — The City That Should Not Exist

An empty mystery revealed after the Cataclysm, contested by three expeditions.

Ghost Island — “The City That Should Not Exist”

Dismissed for centuries as a cartographer's error, Ghost Island became visible only after the Cataclysm.

The island was founded by an isolationist mage who cast an extraordinarily powerful concealment spell over the city. It contains a monumental city completely empty of inhabitants.

Preserved within its silent structures are ancient archives, grand libraries, and artifacts of immense value.

Convergence of Three Expeditions

Three rival expeditions now contest the island: the Holy Phoenix Empire, the Sarid Consortium, and the Necroimperium each pursue their own reasons, racing to reach the city’s secrets and truth first.

The Necroimperium expedition does not occupy the island as a sovereign stronghold; forces operate from an expedition vessel anchored offshore and conduct operations on the island.
